I'm not sure about you, but I still have the bad taste in my mouth from December 12th. A taste I haven't quite been able to get rid of. But that all changes this weekend. It's finally game week for the Baylor Bears as they travel to San Marcos to take on the Texas State Bobcats.
Travis opens by giving his take on Gerry Bohanon named QB1. While his playmaking and confidence are a key factor for the decision; he will still have to play well to keep the title. Taking care of the ball and deep-ball accuracy will play a big part in that. We also discuss the release of the first depth chart and the surprises on the Offensive Line.
Then we dive into a quick and dirty scout of the Bobcats and what we can expect to see from them on the field. Followed by one of Travis' favorite segments, "The Bear Necessities", where he gives you 2 or 3 things that need to happen for a Bears' win.
Listen in as we prepare you for Week 1 and start to turn the page on what was last season.

It was great to see the Bears out on the field again last Saturday. At least for the parts of the game we (those of us watching from home) got to see. Two words for the broadcast crew "zoom out".
Travis begins by diving into a recap of the Texas State game. It was a breath of fresh air to see 2 Baylor rushers eclipse the 100 yard mark. And why only a 9 point win is ok.
Then former Baylor Receiver and Punt Returner Levi Norwood joins the pod. He talks about his interactions with Coach Aranda recently, but also as a young kid. Aranda was a GA while Levi's dad, Brian, was coaching at Texas Tech. Levi also discusses punt returning and the WR group.
Travis ends the show talking Texas Southern and what he wants to see improved from game 1 to game 2. Gerry looked confident, but his deep-ball accuracy was off. Will he be able to turn it around this Saturday?

The goal for me leading into Big 12 play was to build confidence and momentum. There's no doubt we've accomplished that heading into this weekend's game versus the Kansas Jayhawks.
We kickoff this week with Travis' own version of "Overreaction Monday". How after watching the other Big 12 teams through 2 games should increase our optimism of where we will end the year. The other QB's in the conference have not impressed to this point.
Next is a recap of the offensive and defensive performances against Texas Southern, and are then joined by Andrew Miner to give us his thoughts on his recent article on Gerry Bohanon. Andrew gives us insight on all the adversity Bohanon has faced and how that has shaped him into who he is today.
Travis ends the episode scouting the Jayhawks and how important it will be this weekend to contain the Kansas QB, Jason Bean. Baylor should walk away with a win, but still need to continue building momentum for a huge game next weekend.

The Baylor Bears are 3-0, but the season is just beginning. Baylor welcomes a top 15 opponent in Iowa State to Waco this weekend for an afternoon matchup. Maybe the Cyclones will bring the correct tents this time, or maybe not. Doesn't matter to me.
This week's episode kicks off with a recap of the dominance exhibited by the Bears last Saturday; out gaining Kansas by more than 5 yards per play. The offense gave its best performance of the year and the defense played well, but Travis still thinks this defense can get to another level.
Then we welcome Shehan Jeyarajah of CBS sports to break down the Big 12 and Baylor's chances against Iowa State. One thing that hasn't been discussed on the pod is Big 12 expansion and we couldn't find a better guest to break it down than one of Baylor's own in Shehan.
Travis wraps up the episode scouting Iowa State and giving his "Bear Necessities" for a Baylor win.
Should be an exciting game this weekend with tons of NFL talent on the field. If Baylor can eke out a win, it will catapult Baylor into prime position in the Big 12. Enjoy the game and sic 'em.

The Baylor Bears' have their first ranked win of the Aranda era after defeating the Iowa State Cyclones this past weekend. In what was a lackluster 2nd half, the Bears' found a way to hold on and win the game twice thanks to an offsides call on Ben Sims. But alas, here we sit 4-0 and ranked 21st in the country with a trip on the horizon to one of my least favorite places to play, Stillwater.
Travis kicks off this episode recapping the incredible game over the weekend. Baylor was able to knock off the #14 team in the nation while not scoring a single offensive TD in the 2nd half. Travis also explains why this was "bad Baylor" rather than "bad Iowa State" as the Bears' were hampered often by penalties and not taking care of the ball.
We then welcome Phillip Slavin of The Ten Twelve Podcast Network and Oklahoma State homer to explain the down nature of the QB play in the Big 12. He gives us his top 2 QB's in the Big 12 and if the Big 12 is more wide open than it's ever been. We then shift focus to Oklahoma State vs Baylor. We preview the strength-on-strength of the OKST run defense against one of the best rushing attacks in the Big 12 (still weird to say) in Baylor.
Should be another competitive game in Stillwater. Can Baylor overcome an injury to one of their best players in Terrel Bernard? Does Oklahoma State have what it takes to stop the Baylor rush attack? We'll soon find out on Saturday.

It was a rough weekend for the Baylor Bears, but the good news is Travis is back. And this week he's got a little help from co-host Scotty Swingler.
The conversation begins with Scotty's overall impression of the team and if Gerry Bohanon was the right choice at QB. Then we dive in for a closer look at that horrendous loss to Oklahoma State. We'll discuss how Stillwater seems to be Baylor's kryptonite, and how each of Baylor's Head Coaches in the past 2 decades haven't had much success there either. Scotty also shares his experience in Stillwater as a Pokes' fan decided to "throw hands", as they say, prior to the start of College Gameday.
After Travis and Scotty wrap up with their positive spins on the loss, it's time to talk about WVU. Are we sure that Doege is the answer at QB for the Mountaineers? Short answer... No. But we hope he continues to play as we believe that gives Baylor the best chance to win. Defensively West Virginia is one of the best in the Big 12 and that's no surprise. They lead the Big 12 in sacks this year with 17. If Baylor can't get the run game going it's going to be up to Bohanon to hit those deep balls he has struggled with to this point. Travis believes he can do it, and playing at home helps out alot.
Travis explains his "Bear Necessities" for a Baylor win before capping the episode off with game predictions. West Virginia has had an up and down year, so which team will the Bears' get this weekend? The team who played OU close on the road or the team who just lost to Tech?

Baylor bounced back with an absolute shellacking (and yes I looked up how to spell that) of the West Virginia Mountaineers 45-20. In what most people expected to be a defensive battle, the Bears' came out and had their best offensive performance of the year.
This episode begins with Travis' recap of the WVU game and how the Mountaineers were fortunate to eclipse 20 points. Most of their points came from either a tipped ball or the Baylor defense making mental mistakes... penalties. The Bears did a good job of lowering the total number of penalties, but they came at crucial moments of the game.
Travis then welcomes back-to-back Big 12 Champion Quarterback Bryce Petty to bear with us. Bryce gives us his view of the team so far as well as dives into a breakdown of Gerry Bohanon's performance to this point in the year. We also get to hear Bryce's unique experience of playing the last game in Floyd Casey and the first game in McLane Stadium. Plus much more.
Bryce will also give us his thoughts on the BYU matchup before Travis gets into the Bear Necessities for the week. Nothing too special, he only has one this week, but it's an important one.
Come get ready as Baylor welcomes another ranked opponent into McLane Stadium. We all remember what happened the last time a ranked opponent visited. They did not like the outcome.
Sic 'em!

The Baylor Bears gave future Big 12 opponent BYU a warm welcome this weekend as the Cougars got dominated 38-24.
Travis kicks off this episode responding to a sound bite from Scotty Swingler revolving around the rumors that Dave Aranda may be a name to look at for the LSU head coaching position. Both of them seem to believe there won't be anything to worry about, but who truly knows?
Then Travis dives into a recap of beating #19 BYU at home for Coach Aranda's 2nd win over a ranked opponent. Something not even Matt Rhule can say. Hear Travis's thoughts on a few questionable 4th down decisions and the onside kick.
Finally Garrett Ross, recruiting expert for Bears Illustrated, joins Travis to discuss all things recruiting. Who from the 2021 class has made an impact this year? What other positions from the '22 class are we looking to fill? And who could be visiting soon for the '23 class?
A matchup with the Longhorns looms in a couple of weeks, but with Baylor on a BYE week you'll definitely want to come get your fill.

It's the week we've all been waiting for... Texas Hate Week. And this year it holds special meaning as it could be one of the last times Baylor hosts the Longhorns for quite a while.
Travis begins this episode addressing the recent coaching opportunities that have come available. Usually the coaching carousel doesn't start until near the end of the year, but it only took us about 8 weeks to get there. Coach Aranda has said some encouraging words about Baylor, but you never truly know until the pieces fall into place at these other schools.
We are then joined by friend of the pod and former Baylor pitcher Max Garner. Max gives us an injury update on former Baylor baseball player and current LA Dodger Max Muncy as well as a quick World Series breakdown. Then we dive into the matchup with the Longhorns this weekend and talk about how important it will be to limit Bijan Robinson this weekend.
If you are in Waco on Friday head out to the baseball field as the Baylor baseball alumni will be on the field. Come have a great time meeting some former Baylor greats to gear up for the Texas game in the morning. Could this be the Longhorns last visit to Waco? Do not leave it up to chance. 11am, McLane Stadium, we'll see you there!
